How to be lost and found in your mental limbo?

What is the first thing you remember when you hear the word limbo? Inception? Me too. But I’m not talking about this inter-dimensional space. The limbo I’m talking about is not one but exists within all of us. A place that you could refer to as the grey area of our choices.

What exactly is the grey area I’m referring to then? It’s when you are stuck at the crossroads indecisive about where to go. You are anxious because you think your entire life depends on this. You are afraid to take a step wondering what could lie at the end of each road. It’s not wrong to analyze your options before taking a decision, but not at the cost of your mental well-being. Many of us are well pressured and suffocated when taking certain decisions involving our careers, money, and choosing our partner and dwell in this limbo for a very long time forgetting to live. Why are we so concerned about our futures that we lose control of our present?

Have you wondered what lay on the other road in the Robert Frost poem? Most of the decisions in our life aren’t just black or white. You are presented with a plethora of options to choose from, you pick one and you trust that was the right one. But, what if it wasn’t? Scary right? Well, there lies the mystery and there is no going back. It was easier for Robert Frost because he had only two options. What if you are presented with unlimited options?

Maybe we are conditioned to live with fear about our future so much so we spend the best years of our life saving up for our retirement so we could enjoy the 60s curled up comfortably in a chair sipping tea and watching TV. And then when you turn 60 and you look back to find out that you did nothing significant than earn some money and luckily survived the pandemic.

Every one of us has been in a mental limbo especially in the unpredictable COVID times trying to figure out how our lives have changed from pre-COVID to now and how it’s going to change. I’m in limbo trying hard to know what my calling is. Isn’t that something you’ll know when you know? Let’s talk about that on another day. This mental limbo is a place that stops you from living your day. Remember, being proactive is important but not putting up with anxiety. Take control of your lives and LIVE it. If something/ someone is bothering you, understand if you can do something about it. If not, move on. I know it’s not simple but can we promise to not dwell on things that we can’t control and move on? I know you can do it.

Hoping you would break out of your mental LIMBO ( if you are in one )

Until next time
